Initially I wanted my animation to convey a sense of humour to get people’s interest. I thought that adding humour to the piece would make it more fun and light-hearted, unlike having a very heavy message that makes people feel bad for not trying out new ways to travel. Although I’m well aware of how heavy messages can influence viewers. Travelling can be fun and healthy. The cat is symbolism of the toxicity of travelling unwisely. The mouse is symbolism for the aloofness of those who travel that way. All it takes for the mouse to assert his dominance with the cat is to come up with more innovative ways to travel. Though, he’s a dumb mouse and he thinks the cat is just being one of the lads. I thought adding animals with human qualities would be more enjoyable and also adding in exaggerated features such as the tightrope walking and the attempt to fly a toy airplane, respect to Tom & Jerry for the partial inspiration. I also wanted it to be an interview, to make it a little more personal so the mouse is constantly looking at you when he’s explaining why he chose to travel smartly.

Smarter Travel Scene 1 tester.
Testing camera movement and background movement. Have to make changes to the background, a general clean up of characters (adding the white patterns to the cat) and fix the movement of characters.
So far I’m happy with how it’s looking.
